2012 Rose Bowl: Russell Wilson, Former Colorado…

Read More: Russell Wilson (QB – Wisconsin), Wisconsin Badgers, Oregon Ducks

Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson has had quite the year, which ends on Monday with the 2012 Rose Bowl. He finished up a football career at North Carolina State and then elected to pursue baseball full time with the Colorado Rockies. However, that didn’t turn out quite as he expected, struggling through three months of baseball with the Low-A Asheville Tourists. During his second month in the minors, rumors of a possible return to college swarmed and by the end of June resulted in Wilson transferring to Wisconsin.

Wilson went on to lead the Badgers to an 11-2 record, a Big Ten championship and a spot in the 2012 Rose Bowl. Wilson threw for nearly 2,900 yards and had 31 touchdown passes. He will face the No. 5 Oregon Ducks on Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. MT on ESPN.

But once the Rose Bowl ends, Wilson will need to see what his future holds. He will most certainly see what the NFL thinks of him, but the CFL had been discussed as a possibility during the summer. As well, the Colorado Rockies still hold Wilson’s rights and have said they would welcome him back if he wanted to. Twenty twelve could be another exciting year for Wilson.

Report: Rockies in talks with Giants’ Cody Ross

The Colorado Rockies are currently in contract talks with outfielder Cody Ross, according to a tweet from Buster Olney of ESPN.

Ross, 31, hit .240/.325/.405 with 14 home runs and 52 RBI for the San Francisco Giants last season. His best season came in 2009 when he hit .270/.321/.469 with 24 home runs and 90 RBI for the Florida Marlins, however the right-handed outfielder has struggled since he was acquired by the Giants in late 2010.

If signed, Ross will join a crowded Colorado outfield with Carlos Gonzalez, Dexter Fowler, and recently signed Michael Cuddyer.

Rockies Rumors: Colorado Trying To Acquire Martin…

Read More: Martin Prado (3B – ATL), Seth Smith (RF – COL), Colorado Rockies, Atlanta Braves

According to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding, the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves have been talking about a deal that would send outfielder Seth Smith to Atlanta for Martin Prado, though the Rockies likely would include a prospect in the deal as well. The Rockies have been frustrated in attempts to add starting pitching, Harding writes, so improving the situation at second base has become the top priority:

The Rockies’ main need is a durable starting pitcher, but they have shown no interest in dealing the multiple prospects that many teams require for such a deal. So adding another bat at second base, where the Rockies for now have a possible combination of former first-round Draft pick Chris Nelson and solid multi-position man Jonathan Herrera, has risen to the top of the pecking order.

The 27-year-old Prado hit .260/.302/.385 with the Braves in 2011.
