DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies are sending outfielder Carlos Gonzalez to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox for a rehabilitation assignment. The team said Gonzalez would play for the Sky Sox for their three-game series against the Nashville Sounds. The series was scheduled to start Wednesday but was postponed by rain until Thursday. Last year’s National League batting champ has been on the 15-day disabled list since July 22 with a right wrist strain. He took a round of batting practice before Tuesday’s game at Coors Field for the first time since being injured. Before his first trip to the DL, Gonzalez was hitting .289 with 15 homers, 56 RBIs, 63 runs and 16 stolen bases. (Copyright ©2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) That’s all for today. | Rockies Vs. Dodgers: Colorado Fall In 7-1 Loss To Los Angeles
Read More: Troy Tulowitzki (SS – COL), Jason Hammel (P – COL), Chad Billingsley (P – LOS), Carlos Gonzalez (LF – COL), Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers The Colorado Rockies’ inability to pick up hits when they need them most continued to haunt them in a 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Memorial Day. The Rockies did pick up 14 hits, but a Ty Wigginton home run in the fourth inning was the only damage they could manage. It was a 1-for-12 night hitting with runners in scoring position. In the first inning, Troy Tulowitzki singled to center field with Carlos Gonzalez at second base (he stole it for his seventh of the year). Gonzalez attempted to score on the play, but Matt Kemp gunned him down at the plate. In the second inning, Todd Helton and Seth Smith hit back-to-back singles to start things, but then they went nowhere after three consecutive swinging strikeouts ended the inning. Things looked up in the seventh for the Rockies–despite a six-run deficit–when Troy Tulowitzki was at the plate with one out and the bases loaded. Chris Nelson, recently called up, had reached with a single, but was out on an Eric Young Jr. fielder’s choice. Dexter Fowler singled to move Young to second and then Carlos Gonzalez walked to load the bases. Tulowitzki started his at-bat with a strike taken and then fouled a pitch. After drawing two balls, Tulowitzki hit into an inning-ending double play. Jason Hammel took the hook after he allowed seven runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings. The bullpen of Matt Daley, Greg Reynolds and Matt Belisle held the Dodgers to one hit and zero runs over the remaining 3.1 innings. Chad Billingsley, on the other hand, allowed two runs on 11 hits and struck out eight Rockies. The Rockies (25-28, 12-13 road) continue this series Tuesday night at 8:10 p.m. MT. | Mets lose to Colorado Rockies, 2-1
DENVER — A change of scenery and altitude didn’t do much last night to invigorate the zombies inhabiting the Mets’ lineup. The Mile Low Club — with Jason Bay and David Wright, among others, presiding — went into full session. The Mets never got anything resembling a clutch hit and lost their second straight, 2-1 to the Rockies at Coors Field. They even had the potential tying run — Willie Harris, who had a pinch-hit single to lead off the ninth — thrown out trying to steal second for the inning’s second out. The Mets began play batting a pathetic .223 with runners in scoring position and saw that number drop with an 0-for-7 performance last night. Five singles and six walks accounted for the Mets’ offensive output.
ap HOME DONE: Daniel Murphy is tagged out at home by Rockies catcher Chris Iannetta after trying to score from third on a grounder by Carlos Beltran in the seventh inning of the Mets’ 2-1 loss last night.

| Cubs. Vs. Rockies: Esmil Rogers Emerges As Favorite For Fifth Rotation Spot | |
Read More: Todd Helton (1B – COL), Carlos Pena (1B – CHC), Alfonso Soriano (LF – CHC), Ian Stewart (3B – COL), Esmil Rogers (P – COL), Carlos Gonzalez (LF – COL), Edgmer Escalona (P – COL), Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies, Chicago Cubs If Jim Tracy needed to make his final 25-man roster for the Colorado Rockies this week, Esmil Rogers would clearly be the top choice for the final spot in the rotation. In the Rockies 4-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs, Rogers faced the minimum 15 batters in five innings of work, struck out three batters and needed only 60 pitches to do so. He did allow one hit in the second inning to Carlos Pena. However, Pena tried to stretch it into a double, which allowed the relay from Carlos Gonzalez to Hernan Iribarren to get the out at second base. He was out by 15 feet, according to Purple Row’s Andrew Fisher, who was at the game. Offensively, the Rockies were held to four hits, three off of starter Randy Wells. The runs scored on a fourth-inning sac fly by Todd Helton, a fifth-inning sacrifice fly by Rogers that wound up scoring two when Alfonso Soriano made an errant throw and a Wilin Rosario RBI ground out in the bottom of the eighth. While Matt Belisle, Matt Lindstrom, and Huston Street kept the Cubs off the board after Rogers left the game, Edgmer Escalona was unable to follow suit. After a strikeout to start the inning, Escalona gave up a single and a double to set up men in scoring position. A sac fly scored the first run and a double scored the second. The game ended on a strikeout. Ian Stewart will play in tomorrow’s game against the Rangers to help him get ready in time to start Opening Day. Thanks for reading! .
