Jeff Francis couldn't record an out in a six-run fourth inning for the Padres, who averted a Rockies sweep in a big way Wednesday afternoon with a 13-3 win at PETCO Park.

Rockies option Morales to Triple-A, recall Rogers

The Colorado Rockies have optioned left-handed reliever Franklin Morales to Triple-A Colorado Springs and recalled right-hander Esmil Rogers from the Sky Sox. The moves came after a 13-3 loss to the San Diego Padres. After Jeff Francis failed to get an out in the six-run fourth, Morales came in and allowed two more baserunners before getting the first two outs.

After seeing left-hander Franklin Morales once again grasp for command and never find it Wednesday afternoon, the Rockies optioned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs. They recalled right-hander Esmil Rogers.
